LIEUTENANT COLONEL (U) PG MOHD ZULHUSMI BIN PG MOHD ROSLAN

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pg Mohd Zulhusmi Bin Pg Mohd Roslan began his career with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in 2003 and completed his six-month Basic Military Training at the RBAF Training Institute, Penanjong that same year. He was later commissioned after completing his Initial Officer Training at the Royal Air Force College in Cranwell, United Kingdom, where he was awarded Best Foreign Commonwealth Officer.

He then underwent Basic Flying Training with the Royal Brunei Air Force in 2005 before being posted to his operational flying squadron, No. 1 Squadron, in 2007. Throughout his career as a pilot, he has flown the Pilatus PC-7MKII, Bell 206B Jet Ranger, Bell 212, CT-4B and CASA CN-235 aircraft. In 2009, he completed his Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) course at BAE Systems, Australia, and returned to instruct on the PC-7MKII. He was also awarded the qualification of Formation Aerobatic Leader from the Empire Test Pilots' School (ETPS) in 2011.

Throughout his career, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pg Mohd Zulhusmi has held various appointments starting with Operational Helicopter Pilot in 2007, Qualified Fixed-Wing Instructor (QFI) in 2009, Flight Commander Training (FCT) in 2010, Officer Commanding No. 63 Squadron Flying Training School in 2014, Officer Commanding (OC) No. 15 Squadron in 2017, Fixed-Wing Standards, RBAirF (2nd Post) in 2017, Directing Staff at the Leadership and Management Centre, Defence Academy RBAF in 2019, and 2IC No. 7 Wing, RBAirF in 2020. He later assumed command as Commanding Officer No. 7 Wing, RBAirF from Feb 2021 to Jan 2024, during which he also served as Exercise Director for Exercise Alap-Alap. He subsequently served as Head of Aviation Standards & Evaluation, RBAirF from Jan 2022 to Oct 2025, before assuming his current appointment as Commander Operations Group, Royal Brunei Air Force on 10 Oct 2025.

Throughout his service, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pg Mohd Zulhusmi has attended numerous courses both locally and abroad and has represented the RBAirF in a range of international conferences, seminars, forums, and exercises. His career highlights include participation in the Brunei Darussalam National Plan of Action for IUU, ASEAN Air Chiefs' Conference (Singapore), Global Air Chiefs' Conference (UK), Asia-Pacific Aviation Safety SME Course (US), Asia-Pacific Regional EEZ, ACDFIM, and ADMM-Plus HADR/MMEX. He also represented Brunei Darussalam as Head of Delegation for the ASEAN Air Force Education and Training (AAFET) Working Group, strengthening regional cooperation and capacity building across ASEAN Air Forces.

Staff training includes the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Junior Staff Course in 2013 and the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College, Singapore in 2019. During his time in Singapore, he obtained his Graduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and completed a Strategic Communications Course with the Singapore Management University (SMU). In 2024, he completed the Executive Development Programme (EDP) for Senior Government Officials (SGO), SHHBIDSS, and delivered by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore (NUS), where he was awarded Top Student and Best Policy Paper.

Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pg Mohd Zulhusmi is married to Viviana-Fernanda Afonso Binti Metussin and is blessed with one son, Ak Mohd Rafael.​​
